On the 29th of May 2008 the commune of Banskej Bystrica organized a Hudec exhibition and conference called “Slovenskou Rukou – With Slovak Hand” in the National Scientific Library. There were lectures about his works, the cultural and economical context of his age in Shanghai and the actual condition of his buildings.

The issue of his nationality has been discussed since he was born in Banska Bystrica (in those days in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy) but later in his life he had Czechoslovakian, Hungarian and even American citizenship. After the talks the audience walked to the nearby Lutheran Graveyard and wreathed the Hugyecz family grave. After the ceremony everybody went back to the library where the exhibition opening took place place with an elegant reception.
